Custom Built Machines for Your Process

Perhaps you are looking to scale  from a home freeze dry machine and need a pilot  or Production freeze dryer?  You may be a successful company needing to scale up having had experience with commercial freeze dry machines, and need to move past the older inefficient freeze dryer machines into a newer more advanced lyophilizer that actually fits YOUR process?  Perhaps there is a better solution that will reduce runtimes, operating cost, AND at the same time cost less than other options offered here in the US.  Custom  If you are scaling your freeze dry operation, from any level, we have the experience to help you grow and make it easy.

Are all freeze dryers the same?

While walk in freeze dryers have unrestricted vapor flow, to a degree, they have more drawbacks then positives.

while it might seem like they are a good design, scaling up will be a problem.  knowing the limitations upfront can help you make the right choice.   sanitation,  innacurate heating , uncontrolled heating based on inacurate processes, will mean that your product is likely drying  at different rates, and the quality of the product will change throughout the machine as a result.  You will see hot spots, some trays will over dry and others will still have wet product.  For most items this is a bad design.  unless your electric heated trays have a temp probe on every tray, you are probably going to be doing uneefficent drying and your runtimes will be longer to make up for undried product, leading you to possibly having denatured, vacuum dried product instead of an even freeze dried profile.  Also scaling up will prove to be a problem.   the edge effect is a know phenomena in freeze drying, but when you have 420 trays and they all are not the same temp, you will get hot spots and over dryied product.  Which will lead you to putting less product on your tray then you would, before achieving condenser overload.

Freeze Dryer Types

Your freeze dryer should be made specific to your needs. completely customized for your process.  There is not 1 type of freeze dryer that works for every application.  So many variables go into determining this.  the main types of Freeze Dryers could fall into these categories:

  • Home- many people like the ability to freeze dry food for themselves.  You know where the food came from and what is in it.  Perhaps you are trying out a product before you launch a home business.  We can help.
  • lab - small scale.  Used to do small amounts for determining viability
  • Commercial production Freeze Dryers-  Any process you have, you will eventually scale. Determining the right size machines for R&D to Your Production Dryers.   Getting this right from the beginning is important, as retooling or rethinking your process after you have purchased a freeze dryer can be costly when navigating away from inefficient designs.
  • Sterile vs non sterile- regardless whether or not you are doing a pharmaceutical application, cleaning your equipment is an important consideration.
  • Aseptic vs Non Aseptic- typically a pharmaceutical option, depending on your process you may find that you need to consider if this is something you need to integrate into your process.
